My Thoughts:
The Beloved Daughter is one of the most timely and thought-provoking novels I've encountered in quite some time. I was quickly captivated by Alana Terry's simple, yet alluring, writing style and her ability to capture the essence of humanity within one of the world's most secretive countries. Although only twelve years old, Cha-Chung has a great deal to teach all of us about determination and perseverance in the presence of oppression, and the importance of Faith during such difficulties. Ultimately, Terry's novel is about the continued existence of religious persecution but it's also about the human spirit's will to survive. The author has certainly proven herself to be a very gifted storyteller with an uncanny ability to capture both the beauty and the tragedy of humanity. Very well written and I easily give this FOUR stars.
