About The Book:
Book 2 of an exclusive 6-consecutive-month release Amish serial novel. In The Silence of Winter, part two of New York Times Bestselling author, Wanda E. Brunstetter's The Discovery--A Lancaster County Saga, Meredith anxiously waits to hear that Luke has arrived safely in Indiana for a new job opportunity. . .but Luke’s call never comes. Instead, Meredith receives news that tears her heart to shreds and leaves her just barely living—and only for the sake of the little one growing within her. How will Meredith ever go on without Luke?

My Thoughts:
As I meet up with Meredith and Luke in Book 2 of Brunstetter's Discovery series, once again I'm left with a mix of emotions. I admit, I'm captivated by the storyline and the fate of these endearing characters.  There is just so much suspense and intrigue packed into the pages for such a short offering that it can easily be read in one sitting. I suppose if one were looking for a quick read this is certainly a plus.  However, my disappointment and frustration results more from the marketing of this series.  Currently the paperback price for each novella is $6.99 and the kindle format is $4.99 for a little over 100 pages.  At this rate, once you've purchased all six books in this series, you will have spent approximately $42.00 (or $30.00 for the Kindle version).  I just find this outrageously overpriced and can't help but wonder if this will become a trend in publishing in order generate more revenue?  Don't get me wrong, the story is good but it's certainly not that good that I would be willing to spend $42.00 on the series. As a fan of Amish Fiction I find this very frustrating....three stars.

  1. Thank you for this interesting review. The story sounds captivating, despite the shortness of the book. I, too, am surprised at the pricing. But I believe the free market will make the call here.
